In recent years, snail slime has gained immense popularity in the cosmetics industry, becoming one of the most desirable skincare ingredients. Although its presence in formulas may seem exotic, its regenerative and moisturizing properties have been confirmed by both users and numerous scientific studies. In natural conditions, it performs a protective and regenerative function, allowing the animal to move over sharp surfaces and heal micro-injuries. In cosmetology, snail secretion is valued for its multidirectional biological effects, resulting from the wealth of bioactive chemical compounds contained in it. Biochemical analyses have shown that snail slime contains a number of ingredients beneficial to the condition of the skin, including allantoin, glycolic acid, collagen, elastin, mucopolysaccharides, proteolytic enzymes and vitamins (A, E and C). Allantoin is known for its soothing, anti-inflammatory and epidermal regeneration properties. Glycolic acid supports epidermal reconstruction, while allantoin and proteolytic enzymes help brighten discolorations and reduce the visibility of acne lesions.
